Everyone needs a good headshot. A professional image can be used everywhere. From your website to Linkedin and other social media. A good portrait is your brand; it is your emotional business card. It needs to be intriguing, engaging, and a good reflection of your personality.

There are so many unprofessional photos and selfies out there. Photo's taken in bad lighting, wrongly cropped, or just poor in quality.

So let's look at my images. The selfie is not a particularly bad photo, but it doesn't have a professional look either. I put myself in good light, though, because I felt a little vulnerable to show you guys an awful photo of myself, but I didn't work on elegant clothing, on posing, having the right angle. I wear no makeup, I didn't do my hair, I didn't pay attention to the background, and I used my phone to take the picture.

The other image is a professional headshot taken with a Professional DSRL camera. It is an image that is authentically me; it is shot in a studio environment with a nice background and my hair and makeup were done professionally. My Dutch photographer Hiske, used good lighting with a "fill light" that minimized my wrinkles a bit -:) and I look engaging and approachable, don't you think?
And, most important, it is updated, so it won't mislead people when they see/meet me in real life.
